CPR Certifications
Through the American Heart Association (AHA) we offer the latest skills, techniques, and knowledge to earn your Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification, or Heartsaver Certifications for the next two years.
BLS Certification (Initial)
This course is designed for new or perspective healthcare professionals who have a job-related "duty to respond" to emergencies. The 3 hour course includes an overview of body systems.
BLS students learn how to recognize and provide care in respiratory and cardiac emergencies for adults, children and infants, with special emphasis on two-rescuer CPR use of the resuscitation mask, bag-valve mask and Automated External Defibrillator.
Techniques for minimizing the risk of disease transmission and for special resuscitation situations are included. This course is especially recommended for medical professionals, lifeguards, aerobics/fitness/sports instructors and public and private safety/security employees.
The BLS course covers:
· Critical concepts of high-quality CPR
· The AHA Chain of Survival
· 1-Rescuer CPR/AED for Adult/Child/Infant
· 2-Rescuer CPR/AED for Adult/Child/Infant
· Differences between Adult, Child and Infant rescue techniques
· Bag-mask techniques for Adult, Child and Infant
· Rescue breathing for Adult, Child and Infant
· Relief of choking for Adult, Child and Infant
· Intro to CPR with an Advanced Airway
Students must pass a written exam and skills test in order to qualify for a BLS for Healthcare Provider Course Completion Card. Course length is approximately 4.5 hours.
The American Heart Association certificate is valid for 2 year.
BLS Renewal
This course is for all all healthcare providers who must renew their CPR certification.
The renewal course covers core material such as adult, child and infant CPR (including two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask), foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) and automated external defibrillation.
Please be sure to review your book and skills from your previous CPR classes and bring your old card to class.
This is a renewal course; participants must have a valid AHA BLS CPR card in their possession on the day of the class, OR participants must hold a CPR card that has expired no more than 6 months.
AHA CPR card are issued on the same day.
BLS manuals and other provider material are available for purchase and e-books are available for rent.
